New Years Eve in Queenstown

Posted on October 14, 2015 | in Travellers Questions | by

Hey fellow travellers!

Ill be flying to this beautiful country in December, landing in Auckland on Dec 18th, staying until 3rd Jan.

I am traveling alone (decided to stop on a way back from business trip in Australia), and I am wondering which city would you recommend for NYE? And possibly what would you recommend to do for NYE – I am 28yo, and single. Whats the best way to meet other travelers there?

TL;DR: Where to for NYE? Queenstown or Auckland?

Countdown – Fireworks – Parties; New Years Eve Queenstown 2016

New Years Eve is Queenstown’s major event of the Summerdaze festival, hosting festivities on Queenstown’s lakefront, also presenting a fantastic line up of live music performances and an awe inspiring firework display. The Summerdaze festival a month long, exciting program that features over 40 events taking place all over the Queenstown Lakes district from Hawea to Glenorchy. The festival starts with the New Year’s Eve merrymaking events on the Queenstown and Wanaka lakefronts.

In Earnslaw Park on New Year Eve, there will be lots of fun entertainment including live bands, DJ’s and of course fireworks displays. The number one party in town is at Queenstown central where you’ll find the streets jam packed with people enjoying its colorful an exciting carnival atmosphere. You’ll want to grab a bite to eat before the parties because once the activities get in high gear you won’t want to stop to eat.
