Traveling to Australia for 16 days

Posted on May 27, 2016 | in Travellers Questions | by

As the title says, a little while back when United was running an amazing sale, I bought a ticket for a flight from Atlanta, USA, to Sydney, Australia. I leave the US on November 26, and leave Australia on December 12. This seemed like a great trip length to me at the time, but recently the more I think about it, the more I start feeling like Ive sabotaged myself and wont be able to accomplish anywhere near the amount of things I want to do. I definitely want to spend some time in Sydney, see some desert and mountainous nature, spend time on the beaches, see the Great Barrier Reef and hopefully try scuba diving, potentially see Melbourne/Brisbane, see Tasmania, and while Im in that part of the world fly to New Zealand and hang out there too. And this is still just a very basic list of things off the top of my head. In short, there are far too many things to do and far too little time in which to do it. Now, Im definitely interested in hearing itinerary ideas and ideas for the trip, so if you have those, please do let me know. Australia is a huge place, so I am a little overwhelmed by all the options! But right now I am even more concerned with deciding something else. Is 16 days enough for a trip to Australia? Would I be able to have a much better background by adding a week or two onto the trip? And if not, what can I realistically hope to accomplish in the 16 days I am there? Im very interested in hearing your views, fellow travelers!
